I am not the most talented artist in the world, but every now and again I'll produce a few pieces that aren't too shameful. Although I've done quite a few projects digitally, my favorite medium is still pencil on paper.
This is a collection of art projects I've done over the years. Most were done simply for the joy of it.
I was commissioned by an author, Dr. Stephen Jones, to re-design the cover art for the second edition of one of his books entitled The Laws of the Second Coming available through Amazon. After reading the book (and the Bible), this is my depiction of the day the Christ returns to Earth. Read more »
The latest in my series of laser-cut art, depicting a spiritual battle. I never did find a large enough piece of material to cut this out of, so I opted to have it printed. At one point, I had this piece printed, cut apart, and mounted in 3 separate frames (left, right, and center). Since this is vector-art, I can easily convert this illustration into a variety of mediums.
For a few years, the subject of my art came from ufology. This is my first CG piece, based on a 1998 UFO sighting in East Greenwich, Rhode Island. The eyewitness chased and filmed this object from his car, and provided drawings which inspired this piece.
This was the second piece of laser-cut art I produced. It's all one continuous piece of material. I spent a lot of time in a CAD program, cleaning up the vectors and making it work. Unfortunately, this is yet another piece that never got produced in any large scale. The original art is shown here against a colored background. Some day, I would love the opportunity to burn this design into steel and have it used as an installation piece.
I did this acrylic painting after studying a number of photos taken in Gulf Breeze, Florida. I was inspired by the prospect of the reflection in the water, which gave me the opportunity to show the object from two angles in a single piece of art.
When I first got my hands on Photoshop, I decided to see how good I could paint a portrait... from scratch. This painting was done entirely with a mouse, freehand, on a 15" monitor. It took several weeks, and at print resolution, the finished size was only 5" x 7". Anything bigger would not fit on my consumer-grade hard drive!
This is my first airbrush painting ever. It depicts a scene from Star Wars: A New Hope aboard the Rebel Blockade Runner Tantive IV where a young ambassador is trying to avoid capture.
This was mostly a practice piece, only 3 colors.
Pencil is still my favorite medium. This is a quick portrait I did on regular copy paper. I only spent an hour on it, but it's still one of my better pieces.
