At one point I was asked to work on a site design for a contemporary church for singles and 20-somethings. They already had an identity system and plenty of collateral, so the design came naturally. Read more »
I branded a website and message board for a small wilderness retreat, and all I had to work with were simple color changes and a creative masthead. All in all, this turned out pretty good for such a small project.
When I moved from Deluxe Corporation to their sister company, eFunds, I was assigned to "beautify" and "jazz up" their existing websites and applications. Unfortunately, I was still stuck with their gold, purple, and fluorescent color palette. *sigh* Read more »
Is the customer always right? That's what I had to tell myself while working with Advanced Logistics Consulting to design their website. This freelance job took 4 times as long as it should have, because the client kept requesting changes to my design. In the end, ALC had stripped the design of anything especially attractive, leaving them with a simple masthead. Read more »
Although I had a full-time job, I was always doing freelance work on the side. This was a small project for a company that needed a "facelift" for their ecommerce site.
I think Y2K was right around the peak of the splash page trend, and no matter how much I discouraged it, these guys really wanted their splash page. Ahh, the good-ol' days.

My first well-established web design job came in 1999 when I landed a position with iDLX, the electronic spin-off company of Deluxe Corporation. I was brought on to assist their Art Director in making their websites more practical and functional.
However, I just couldn't talk them out of their beloved splash page. At least this one had some navigation on it. They really liked the gold, black, and blue color palette. Read more »
A colleague of mine had taken on work for a small Apple tech support company, and they already had a web site. In fact, they already had a ton of content, had a branding system, and lots of collateral. Hence, they were an easy client to work with!
Like so many other clients before them, and many who will follow, the guys at KVC wanted "something really high-end and professional, but super clean and simple." Ah, yes... the contrary art direction. A classic! Read more »
For a few years, the subject of my art came from ufology. This is my first CG piece, based on a 1998 UFO sighting in East Greenwich, Rhode Island. The eyewitness chased and filmed this object from his car, and provided drawings which inspired this piece.
