When gothling.com needed a "facelift", I put in a bid to restructure the entire site with a Content Management System and an entirely new look. Unfortunately, neither myself or the Gothling webmaster had any knowledge or experience with any open-source CMS. Due to the large amount of traffic this site gets, a better plan was needed, and it wouldn't be cheap. It was this project that spurred me into researching the CMS projects out there, and investigating the possibilities. Little did I know, this would become a career obsession!
Apart from the graphics and liquid layout of this website, I also did the branding.
Sadly, this particular design was put on hold until a CMS could be put in place, and the site simply got new colors and a few new graphics. It was also renamed to darktwincities.com, a blog was added, lots of music review content began pouring in, and traffic went off the charts. Today, it needs a CMS more than ever, and I'm proposing Drupal. A site this popular really needs a good CMS and a stunning front-end design. But since it is staffed entirely by volunteers, darktwincities.com will likely evolve very slowly.
