I was commissioned by film director Ryan Wood to build this prank website to coincide with the premiere of his film Fear of Girls 3, the latest installment of short films about the travails of being a role-playing gamer.
In the film, the website is referenced, but is never seen until the end credits, where it turns out to be a junk website full of annoying pop-ups, and advertisements for anything from mortgage rates to erectile dysfunction pills. What's worse, the graphics are clearly plagiarized from an old Dungeons & Dragons website, paired with some embarassing Flash animation of our two main characters.
Wood had the foresight to realize that fans of the film might actually try to visit the fictional website, and decided to build it verbatim. But in real life, the website visitors can also view the Fear of Girls films, and leave comments!
Naturally, I decided to build this site in Drupal, simply for the interactive features. It was also a good excuse to learn how to use Flash in a Drupal site. Needless to say, this site was a huge success, and still enjoys visitor traffic today.
So, what does MOHOGO mean, you might ask? As Ryan Wood explains it, "Moho is a made-up inverse usage of 'homo', and it means 'a man who is certainly gay, but insists that he isn't.' Make this into a crappy domain name, and you've got mohogo.com."
